Roguespeare’s core trio of UK based vocalists compose and record songs on the outskirts of a wood deep in the Sussex Weald. Jake is our bass/baritone and he also plays bass guitar; Matty is our baritone/tenor and plays electric and acoustic guitar as well as drums. Kealey is Roguespeare’s female lead, and she also plays keyboards, percussion and woodwind instruments.

We are joined by a number of contributing musicians from across southern England and Wales who help bring Roguespeare songs into being.

The different mix of people involved in each song brings a more varied experience listening to Roguespeare than with conventional band formats. Our music evolves organically by chance encounters; it incorporates human flaws and environmental changes and leads to unique and intimate production. When our music is viewed as a whole it is hard to categorise, and yet each song is distinctively ours. Roguespeare draws influences from experimental pop, art pop, tribal music, and some folk and alternative rock genres. Listen out, because all of our songs also have strong connections to classical music styles, and particularly to baroque composers with a characteristic overlaying of different melody lines.

Our aim is to haunt you.
